What type of horses do you have? We currently have two quarter horses and three Tennessee Walkers. Are your horses friendly? Yes, they absolutely love attention. Do you ride the horses? Yes, we ride them around the property and practice riding in our round pen. How long do horses live? Horses on your farm can live 25-30 years, with good care extending their lifespan even further. What are the horses names? Ginger, Dude, Woodrow, Luna and Lady. Who takes care of the horses when you are out of town? We have family who lives at the farm along with three other animal loving individuals who are nearby. What do the horses eat? Your horses, donkey, pigs, and goats enjoy a balanced diet of hay, grass, grains, and appropriate supplements, ensuring everyone stays healthy. Do the horses, goats and pigs all get along? Yes they do! Although we segregate the goats and pigs from the horses during feeding because the goats love to steal food from the horses which can be quite annoying. Are the pigs friendly? We've had 2 of these pigs since they were babies. They are very smart and will actually do tricks for treats and a qood scratching. Can we take pictures of your animals? Yes, we ask that you arrange this ahead of time. Are the goats playful? Oh yes, they can't get enough attention. In fact the brown goat known a Coco Puff will demand it. Why don't the horses stay in the barn when it's raining? There is an old saying that "You can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink" which is so very true. The same is true for the shelter you provide. You can build shelter and furnish it lavishly and find the horses standing in the pouring rain and snow. It's simply what they choose at any given moment unless they are stall kept for certain reasons. How long do horses live? Some of our horses may wear shoes if needed, especially if they will be working or walking on hard surfaces, while others may go barefoot depending on their activities and hoof health. How much does it cost to own a horse?

It's like having a small child that can't vocalize what they want and need. Proper care includes daily feeding routines, grooming, hoof care, exercise for the horses, and routine vet check-ups for everyone. How do you determine a horses age? You may rely on dental exams to estimate their ages and likely know the specific ages of your horses and donkey since they’re part of the family! If you have paperwork from birth or previous ownership you can oftentimes determine the exact age. How do you train a horse? Training and caring for a horse involves groundwork, riding exercises, and trust-building activities, tailored to each horse’s personality, breed and your goals. |
